Adult softball at Lower Woodland Park

In addition to men’s and women’s leagues, Seattle Parks and Recreation is now offering an adult Summer/Fall Co-ed Softball League on either Tuesdays or Thursdays at one of the Lower Woodland Park playfields. Games will take place at 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m. or 9 p.m. from August 14 – October 11, 2012. There will be a total of nine games. The two teams with the best records will receive trophies, and the first place team will also receive t-shirts. A fee of $835 is due at registration. UPDATE: Police say Woodland Park shooting victim was attempting to buy several pounds of marijuana at time of death

The following information has been added to the seattlepi.com story that we shared earlier today: According to a short statement from investigators, [the shooting victim, Precious Reed Jr.] was attempting to buy several pounds of marijuana from his killer. Police contend the man admitted to meeting Reed at the park to conduct the drug deal. According to police statements, the man said he had planned to sell Reed the marijuana but shot him after a struggle. Investigators claim the man’s phone records and an eye witness account also implicate the man in Reed’s slaying.

Family identifies Woodland Park shooting victim

KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reports that the family of a man who shot and killed near Green Lake on Monday has identified him as Reverend Precious Reed. Reed was a father of four, the family told KIRO.
