Summer camps at Seattle Public Theater

This summer, the Seattle Public Theater (SPT) Youth Program will offer camps for kids aged 4-18 at the Green Lake Bathhouse (7312 West Green Lake Dr N). “We have creative drama camps with fabulous themes:  Shakespeare, classic children’s literature, poetry, even super heroes!” says Artistic and Education Director Shana Bestock. “And, underlying it all is the experience of learning and performing in a very special, historic building. The Seattle Public Theater (SPT) at the Green Lake Bathhouse (7312 West Green Lake Dr N) invites you to a free Middle School Ensemble production of Play Ball: An Evening in 7 Innings. Play by Green Lake teen Carter Stratton to be featured at ACT Theater’s Young Playwrights Festival

ACT Theater’s 10th Annual Young Playwrights Festival features a play written by Green Lake resident and Lakeside School student Carter Stratton. Carter’s Blood Like Water, which is directed by Sheila Daniels, is a part of a showcase which is scheduled for Friday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. Performances are at ACT Theatre (700 Union St). Upcoming opera camps for youth at the Green Lake Bathhouse

Seattle Opera is offering youth two opera camps this spring and summer at at the Green Lake Bathhouse (7312 West Green Lake Dr N). “Murder—and other Foul Play” will be April 16-20, 2012, 12:30 – 5:30 p.m. By exploring the mischief and mayhem that’s such an important part of opera, students in grades 6-12 will receive age-appropriate vocal training and develop dramatic movement and stage combat skills, while having fun with opera’s glorious death scenes.
