Registration is now open for the Woodland Soccer Club (WSC). WSC is a nonprofit recreational soccer club open to kids between the ages of 5 and 18 who live in Green Lake, Wallingford, Fremont and Phinney Ridge. Club boundaries are N & NW 85th St to the north, the Lake Washington Ship Canal to the south, I-5 to the east, and 8th Ave NW to the west. There are no tryouts, and players are distributed among teams in such a way that there are no dominant teams.

Last night, at the Friends of Green Lake monthly meeting, attendees heard from Kevin Stoops, Director of Planning and Development of the Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation. Kevin, who has a long history of involvement in the environmental health of Green Lake Park, spoke about the recent field renovations at Woodland Park and the steps the Parks Department is taking to monitor the environmental impact of the new fields. Lower Woodland Park Playfields Construction Underway
We heard about the improvements planned for playfields numbers 2 and 7 at the last Friends of Green Lake and Green Lake Community Council meetings and you’ve probably noticed that work has begun. The two dirt fields will soon be replaced with synthetic turf. See the Parks and Rec website for location info and before and after imagery.
