We just got home from Ravenna’s Cowen Park, where – frankly – not a lot happened. Here’s the story: 12:30 p.m.: we spotted the following on a SeattleCrime.com post detailing the manhunt for Maurice Clemmons, suspected Lakewood shooter. Police are forming a perimeter around Cowen Park and pushing gathered members of the media back from their positions. Apparently traces of blood were found in a bathroom in the park. Scanner chatter indicates police are closing off segments of Brooklyn Ave. in the U-Dist.- Ravenna area to pedestrians and car traffic. Followed by this update at 12:50 p.m.: Police near Cowen…

The Scarlet Tree is reopening in nearby Roosevelt/Ravenna
Four years after being destroyed in a fire, The Scarlet Tree is reopening just across I-5, at 801 NE 65th St. The big day is tentatively scheduled for two weeks from today: Saturday, December 5th. Keep an eye on their Facebook page to see if that changes. They’re already planning a New Year’s Eve event. No ticket price announced yet, but you can sign up to be notified when they’re priced and available. Soon you’ll have a new/old place to go for live music, awesome weekend breakfasts, and to see a sign in the coolest typeface ever.
Classic cocktail bar 'Faraway' coming to Green Lake / Ravenna area
Excellent! Sauced, the Seattle Metropolitan Magazine’s blog about Seattle bars and booze, is reporting that a classic cocktail bar is coming to the Green Lake / Ravenna area. Rocky Yeh (basically the coolest guy in Seattle) and Paul Goodman are planning to name the bar Faraway. “You shouldn’t have to go downtown to get a great cocktail,” said Goodman, formerly of Hotel 1000 and Expedia. He has been working on the concept for over a year (Yeh came aboard about six months ago), and says he’ll run the business side while Yeh will man the bar, serving up small-batch spirits…
