Via PhinneyWood: Aurora Bridge lane closures today through Wednesday

The Seattle Department of Transportation closed the right hand, southbound lane of the Aurora Bridge today (Monday) from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to repair the exterior surface of a bridge column.  The lane will also be closed tomorrow (Tuesday) and Wednesday mornings.

Several Green Lake residents reported hearing what sounded to be gunfire last night (Sunday, January 24) in Green Lake:

Seattle City Council seeks a new Parks Board commissioner

PhinneyWood is reporting that the Seattle City Council is seeking a new member for the Board of Park Commissioners, a seven-member volunteer advisory board. Candidates should have the following qualifications:

Greenwood hit by massive fire

Very sad news this morning from our neighbors to the west, PhinneyWood:
One-hundred Seattle firefighters battled a massive 3-alarm blaze in downtown Greenwood early this morning. The fire began at 208 N. 85 St., at either Pho Tic Tac or the Green Bean Coffeehouse. Both businesses, along with Szechuan Bistro and C.C. Teriyaki, were destroyed.

Woman Engulfed in Flames at Southend of Woodland Park

Someone called 911 to report a person on fire in Woodland Park this morning, according to a Seattle Fire Department spokeswoman.
