House fire on N 71st St

Firefighters are responding to a fire at a single-family home at 707 N 71st St. According to Seattle Fire Department’s Real Time 911 Log, the call came in at 2:15 p.m. Fifteen units are responding, including four engines and one ladder truck. PhinneyWood is covering the fire here.

Solarize Northwest Seattle hopes to bring community-supported solar energy to Green Lake

photo: shannonkringen Solarize Northwest Seattle, a group of Phinney Ridge, Greenwood, Ballard, Fremont, Wallingford and Green Lake residents working toward community-supported solar energy, is next meeting in Room 3 of the Phinney Neighborhood Association‘s Phinney Center (6532 Phinney Ave N). The informational meeting will be on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 7 p.m. This new effort is being supported by the Phinney Neighborhood Association, Sustainable Ballard, Sustainable Greenwood-Phinney, Phinney Ridge Community Council, and other like-minded organizations.
