Used bicycle drive at the Greenlake PCC

Alaffia Sustainable Skin Care is holding a “Bicycles for Education” bike drive at the Greenlake PCC (7504 Aurora Ave N) on Saturday, August 20, 2011, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. According to a news release from PCC, used bicycles that are collected at the event will be distributed to disadvantaged teens in Togo, a small country in West Africa. The bicycles will be used by the recipients for transportation to and from school. “Alaffia founder, president and Togo native, Olowo-n’djo Tchala, knows first-hand the challenges of overcoming poverty and the impact a simple bicycle can have on a child’s life,” the press release reads. An update on Green Lake Village and east Green Lake’s future PCC

Late last month, we learned that development is finally moving forward at the former Vitamilk Dairy site, a three-acre empty lot of land frequently referred to by locals as “The Big Hole.” The property, located between Woodlawn Ave NE, NE 71st St, 5th Ave NE and NE 72nd St, has been a vacant pit for three years. Argument in PCC parking lot leads to man being attacked with grease

Via SeattleCrime.com: A fight in the parking lot next to the Greenlake PCC left one man covered in grease after a war of words escalated into a messy melee. Around 5:30 p.m. on May 12th, two men got into an argument in the parking lot of the PCC at 75th and Aurora after one man accused the other of hitting his vehicle. More details here.

PCC food drives will help fill school lunch gap during summer months

Starting tomorrow (Saturday, May 1, 2011) and throughout the month of May, PCC Natural Markets are hosting food drives to benefit kids in need. Specially-marked donation bins will be set up inside all nine Puget Sound PCC stores, including the Greenlake PCC (7504 Aurora Ave N). According to a news release from PCC, these special food drives will help nourish kids who don’t have access to school-supplied meals during the summer months and whose families are served by food banks that partner with PCC in its year-round food bank program.
