Labor Day Celebration at Lower Woodland Park
The M.L. King, Jr. County Labor Council, AFL-CIO will host its annual Labor Day Celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Labor Day (Monday, September 5, 2011) at at Shelters #1, #2 and #3 at Lower Woodland Park. There will be live music featuring Bobby Medina and the Red Hot Band. Ice cream, hot dogs, soda, popcorn and kettle corn will be served, and there will be clowns, games, face painting and a raffle. Roosevelt High School Thriller Club available for October events
Margaret Kahn, the president of the Roosevelt High School Thriller Club, says that the club is looking for haunted houses, schools, parties, festivals or trick-or-treat events that will need entertainment this fall. The RHS Thriller Club is comprised of approximately twenty students that learn and perform Michael Jackson’s Thriller dance in full zombie regalia. In addition to performing at events, the students participate in a yearly worldwide simultaneous Thriller dance that has broken world records. The group is available on Friday afternoons, Friday evenings and weekends during October, 2011. There is a negotiable $25 charge per performance.
