Two cars crash head-on, closing Green Lake Way in both directions

At 9:23 p.m. this evening (Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011), we received a tip from a woman who identified herself as “Heidi” about a car crash on Green Lake Way near the Green Lake Pitch and Putt golf course. Heidi reported that both directions of Green Lake Way N were closed to traffic due to the incident, which involved two cars that crashed head-on. 9-1-1 dispatch records confirm that a fire engine was sent to 5700 East Green Lake Way N at 9:06 p.m. Another fire engine and a medic were dispatched six minutes later. Cyclist and car crash on Meridian Ave N

Updated Saturday, August 20, 1:25 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. with new information from witnesses who were at the scene of the crash. Shortly after 9 p.m. on Wednesday (August 17, 2011), two fire engines and one ambulance were dispatched to 6014 Meridian Ave N following a collision between a bicycle and car. According to Sonja Hardenbrook, who witnessed the aftermath of the crash, it appeared as though a cyclist flew off his bike and onto the windshield of a car, shattering the window. Bystander saves man from drowning in Green Lake on the Fourth of July

A bystander saved a man from drowning last night (July 4, 2011) in Green Lake. Detective Mark Jamieson of the Seattle Police Department says that last night at approximately 7:45 p.m., police officers and the Seattle Fire Department responded to reports of a man pulled unconscious from the water at East Green Lake Beach (7201 E Green Lake Dr N). The beach is staffed by a lifeguard on sunny days during the summer, but only until 7 p.m. According to Det. Jamieson, the 32-year-old man was likely trying to swim to the dive platform when he encountered “an unknown problem.”…

Medical emergency at Green Lake Park

Medics were called to the southwest corner of Green Lake (West Green Lake Way N at N 63rd St) at 9:03 a.m. this morning (Thursday, May 12, 2011). The aid call was labeled “Medic Response, 7 per rule,” a call type which typically indicates a serious medical incident that requires seven responding personnel. At 9:08 a.m. and 9:21 a.m additional units were sent to the scene. Parent asks for feedback about safety of Lower Woodland Park BMX bike course

A local man who asked to remain anonymous wrote to us earlier today (Monday, April 18, 2011) about the Lower Woodland Park BMX bike course.
