Organizers report that SHARE homeless shelter has had 'no impact' on Green Lake neighborhood

A homeless shelter which houses twenty men at Bethany Lutheran Church (7400 Woodlawn Ave NE), has, according to representatives from the shelter and church, had no impact on the surrounding neighborhood. The SHARE shelter has been in operation since July 15th of this year.  Many Green Lake residents expressed concerns when the shelter opened. Last night (Wednesday, Sept 8, 2010), SHARE and church representatives spoke at the Green Lake Community Council meeting. Budget crisis may mean no bus tickets for men in Green Lake SHARE shelter

SHARE, the organization that runs a shelter for twenty homeless men in Green Lake, is short on money. The Green Lake shelter, which is located at Bethany Lutheran Church (7400 Woodlawn Ave NE), has been in operation since July 15th  of this year.  Many residents from the surrounding area have expressed concerns about the shelter. Green Lake residents express concerns over homeless shelter

There was a tense community meeting last night (Wednesday, July 14, 2010) at Green Lake’s Bethany Lutheran Church (7400 Woodlawn Ave NE). Members of the church congregation and residents of the surrounding neighborhood came together to hear from eight men representing SHARE (Seattle Housing and Resource Effort).  SHARE plans to establish a homeless shelter for twenty homeless men at the church, beginning tonight. SHARE homeless shelters have a controversial history in Ballard

Yesterday, we reported that there will be a community meeting tonight (Wednesday, July 14, 2010) at 7 p.m. concerning a planned homeless shelter at Green Lake’s Bethany Lutheran Church. The shelter will house twenty homeless men who are participants in SHARE (Seattle Housing and Resource Effort).  The church and SHARE will be working together for a one-month trial period beginning tomorrow (Thursday).
