Crosswalks and sidewalks surrounding Green Lake Elementary School to receive safety upgrades

Walking and biking improvements are coming soon to the area surrounding Green Lake Elementary School (2400 N 65th St). The improvements are being made by SDOT as a part of the Safe Routes to School program. The program is funded by the Bridging the Gap levy, passed by Seattle voters in 2006. Duck settles in at Green Lake Elementary School – UPDATED with photos of the ducklings walking to Green Lake

  Students at Green Lake Elementary School (2400 N 65th St) have been playing host to a duck who has made a nest right in front of the school’s office door. The duck has been sitting on her nest for two weeks. “We have cones up and a string around the area with a kid-made sign warning passers by not to disturb her,” says Angela Blemker, Kindergarten teacher. “We all feel pretty lucky she chose us as a safe haven, though I don’t really know what she was thinking. Lend a hand at Green Lake Elementary School’s annual Spring Clean Up

Green Lake Elementary School (2400 N 65th St) will be hosting their annual Spring Clean Up at the school on Saturday, May 21, 2011, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., rain or shine. The school’s Garden Club invites the community to join them in cleaning garden beds and getting the school grounds ready for the summer. Participants can bring their own tools or use tools provided by the Garden Club.

Green Lake Elementary School Drama Club production of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ this weekend

Students from Green Lake Elementary School are putting on a production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Seattle Public Theater this Friday (April 15, 2011) at 7 p.m. and Saturday (April 16, 2011) at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. There will also be a preview performance on Thursday (April 14, 2011) at 6:30 p.m. The Seattle Public Theater is located in the historic Green Lake Bathhouse at 7312 West Green Lake Dr N. Sidewalk repair in front of Green Lake Elementary School may result in loss of large tree

A public notice was posted today (April 11, 2011) on a large European Birch tree in front of Green Lake Elementary School (2400 N 65th St). The “Tree Retention Evaluation” notice was posted by the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT). It indicates that the sidewalk around the base of the tree is scheduled to be replaced. “SDOT’s policy is to retain trees whenever possible when repairing sidewalks,” the notice reads, “but if the root pruning needed does not allow the tree to remain stable and viable, it may be necessary to remove this tree within 10 days of this posting.” The appraised…
