Last Saturday, fans decked out in Seahawks gear met at the Green Lake Tacos Guaymas (6808 E Green Lake Way N) to watch the game and eat free appetizers. The Seahawks are next headed into a divisional playoff game with the Chicago Bears. The game will be this Sunday (Jan. 16, 2011). Kickoff is scheduled for 10 a.m. PST. Bishop Blanchet graduate (and football legend) Charley Wellnitz is remembered
Casey sent some sad news to us today. A 1997 Bishop Blanchet (8200 Wallingford Ave N) graduate died on December 26 after an accidental fall. Casey writes: Today was the memorial for Charley Wellnitz. He was a phenomenal athlete with an unforgettable smile. He was a buddy from growing up, and the memorial at Our Lady of the Lake was packed. Up the Gaels!
Head to the northeast fields of Green Lake Park at 11am this Saturday to check out the Gaelic Games. Behold the two most popular spectator sports in Ireland: Gaelic football and hurling. There will be three games of each as well as clinics for new players and kids. See the flyer for slightly more information. According to Wikipedia (so don’t quote us on this), Gaelic football is commonly referred to as “Gah” and the wooden hurling stick is called a hurley.
