Green Lake is open for fishing all year, but official trout-fishing season began today (Saturday, April 30, 2011). The Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife (WDFW) released thousands of rainbow trout in Green Lake earlier this spring. (You can see pictures of the trout being released into Green Lake here.) A fishing license is required for everybody aged 15 and older who wishes to fish in Washington State’s lakes. Youth under age 15 do not need a license. Fishing at Green Lake Park

According to the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife (WDFW), 6,000 rainbow trout were released into Green Lake on March 3, followed by 6,000 more on March 29. Further stocking of trout in Green Lake will take place in April and May. In addition to rainbow trout, brown trout, largemouth bass, rock bass, yellow perch and brown bullhead catfish are present in Green Lake, and some years WDFW stocks channel catfish in the lake. Fly casting classes at Green Lake Park this Spring
Two organizations are offering fly casting classes this spring at Green Lake Park. All classes will be held at Green Lake’s casting pier. The casting pier, also called the fishing pier, can be found on the northwest shore of Green Lake, just west of the Bathhouse Theater. The Northwest Fly Anglers Intro to Fly Casting class begins Tuesday, April 5, 2011 and runs 8 weeks, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuition is $40 and fly rods, reels, and lines are provided. Bow Hunting at Green Lake
This has got to be the most interesting discussion ever on the Washington Fly Fishing message boards. just wondering if bow hunting or spear fishing for carp is legal at green lake. i cant seem to find anything that says it isnt. In addition to the discussion as to whether or not it’s OK to shoot at things within the city limits (sounds like it’s not), the legality of fishing for carp was also questioned.
