Apartment fire in east Green Lake: one fatality

There was a fire at Green Lake Plaza (505 NE 70th St, near southbound I-5) today (Monday).  Emergency response was first called to the scene at 1:24 p.m.
Flames and a large smoke plume could be seen from several blocks away.  Witnesses reported seeing residents of the building leaning out of their windows.

At 6:00 p.m. tonight (Friday), 15 units were called to a house fire at 6612 8th Ave NE.

The Scarlet Tree is reopening in nearby Roosevelt/Ravenna

Four years after being destroyed in a fire, The Scarlet Tree is reopening just across I-5, at 801 NE 65th St.
The big day is tentatively scheduled for two weeks from today: Saturday, December 5th. Keep an eye on their Facebook page to see if that changes.

A clothes dryer caused an electrical fire at 6309 Latona Ave NE this afternoon. Flames could not be seen from the street, but smoke filled the entire house and billowed out the top-floor windows, staining part of the exterior of the house black.

Greenwood hit by massive fire

Very sad news this morning from our neighbors to the west, PhinneyWood:
One-hundred Seattle firefighters battled a massive 3-alarm blaze in downtown Greenwood early this morning. The fire began at 208 N. 85 St., at either Pho Tic Tac or the Green Bean Coffeehouse. Both businesses, along with Szechuan Bistro and C.C. Teriyaki, were destroyed.
