I recently received some interesting information from Carol Dunn, professional “Disaster Guru,” about the risks we face in the Green Lake neighborhood should an earthquake strike. On Solid Ground? Carol sent the following geological map from the Pacific Northwest Center for Geologic Mapping Studies: The purple areas of the map represent land that is fairly solid, leading to rocky soil for gardeners, but more stable ground in the event of an earthquake. There will be a free Hands-Only CPR tutorial at Green Lake Park this Saturday (June 5, 2010), 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The tutorial will be on the east side of the park, on the grassy area between the parking lot and the lake, between the Green Lake Community Center and the concession stand. Green Lake Community Preparedness Week is in the works

We received the following information about Green Lake Community Preparedness Week from Paul Kostek, Co-Secretary of the Green Lake Community Council. The date of the Community Preparedness Week is still to be determined.   We’ll be sure to keep you in the loop as the event takes shape. Green Lake Community Council, in partnership with the Seattle Office of Emergency Management, is planning a Preparedness Week. We’re just starting the planning and welcome volunteers.
