A Green Lake Community Council Emergency Preparedness Committee has formed. The committee is working with the City of Seattle Emergency Operations Center and members of other community planning groups, including the Wallingford Community Council Emergency Preparedness Committee. The Green Lake Emergency Preparedness Committee aims to have a plan in place so that Green Lake residents can get information and help in the event of an emergency or disaster. Green Lake salon and pediatrician partner to raise funds for children injured in Haiti earthquake
Peggy Sarjeant, a local pediatrician who traveled to the Dominican Republic five days after Haiti’s earthquake, wrote to tell us about a Green Lake fundraiser to aid children injured in the earthquake. Sugarcomb Salon, which is located at Linden Corners (780 N 73rd St), will be opening its doors (on a first come first served basis) to clients from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, April 12 and Monday, April 19. Yesterday Morning's Shake Up
A magnitude 3.7 earthquake hit Whidbey Island at 5:09 yesterday morning. Over here in Green Lake, 63 miles from the center of the action, the quake was felt by at least a couple of us: two folks living in the 98103 zip code area noticed enough of a rumble to report it to the U.S. Geological Survey.
