Erika Ayer, now Assistant Principal of Pathfinder K-8 in West Seattle, will be Bagley Elementary’s principal for the 2011-2012 school year. By Erica Browne Grivas Seattle Public Schools (SPS) recently announced the reassignment of Daniel Bagley Elementary Principal Anitra Pinchback-Jones to head the new Rainier Elementary – which means the school, located at 7821 Stone Ave N, is looking for its fourth principal in five years. “These appointments leave three current openings at Daniel Bagley, John Stanford International and Rainier Beach High School that will be filled through an interview process,” according to a March 23, 2011 press release from Superintendent Susan Enfield. Fire alarm at Daniel Bagley School
The Seattle Fire Department responded to a fire alarm today (Tuesday, April 26, 2011) at Daniel Bagley Elementary School (7821 Stone Ave N). Two units (Engine 16 and Ladder 5) were called to the school at 3:30 p.m., the school’s regular pick-up time. “Students who had been dismissed out the main entrance were called back to line up in the play yard, according to usual fire drill procedure,” Bagley parent Erica Grivas reports. ”I don’t know the cause of the alarm, but there were no outward signs of smoke.” No additional units were sent to the scene and the incident is now closed, according…
Seattle Public Schools releases transportation plan
Updated March 24 with information about McDonald Elementary School from our news partner My Wallingford. As school assignments start arriving in the mail, Seattle Public Schools has released its transportation zone plan for bus and walk zones for the 2011-12 school year. From the SPS website: In the new transportation plan, transportation eligibility for attendance area elementary and K-8 students will be based on transportation zones. Students within the transportation zone and outside the walk zone for a school will be eligible for District-provided transportation. Daniel Bagley Elementary PTA asks for your vote in support of fundraising video
Julie Allen, a parent at Green Lake’s Daniel Bagley Elementary School (7821 Stone Ave N), sent us the following video about the school’s latest fundraising effort: Julie is entering the video in a contest sponsored by Verity Credit Union. She hopes to win funds ($5,000 is being offered as a grand prize, and $1,000 will go to two runners up) to help Bagley’s PTA renovate the school’s playing area and buy school supplies.
