Teacher of the Year contest at the Greenlake Kidd Valley

Students aged 14 and younger can nominate their favorite teacher by filling out a nomination form at any Ivar’s or Kidd Valley location or filling out a form online. The two winning teachers will receive $500 for classroom supplies and the students that nominated the teachers will receive either a classroom chowder party or a Kidd Valley burger party. Children can win a bike through reading program at Green Lake Library

This spring, the Green Lake Branch Library (7364 E Green Lake Dr N) will once again host a “Bikes for Books” reading program for kids in first through third grades. Children are invited to read books for a chance to win a bike. Participants are allowed to enter their names for the drawing once for every ten books they read between Thursday, March 1 and Monday, May 21, 2012. Each entry will require a short oral book report to to a librarian on one book. 1,500+ runners expected at Green Lake Park this Sunday

More than 1,500 runners are expected at Green Lake Park this Sunday (Nov. 20, 2011) for the Green Lake Gobble & Mashed Potato Munch Off. The event begins at 9:10 a.m. with a free Kids Dash, followed by a 5K run/walk at 9:30 a.m. The race course can be viewed here. Runners will have the opportunity to “Burn the Turkeys” by racing against one male and one female running the event in turkey costumes.
