Today (Sunday, April 18, 2010), Greenwood CoolMom installed hundreds of kid-created pinwheels at Green Lake Park to celebrate Earth Week. CoolMom, in partnership with the Sierra Club, held the event as a call for an end to coal use for energy in Washington State and a transition to clean energy and green jobs.

Green Lake Community Center to turn the lights off for Earth Hour

If you notice the Green Lake Community Center (7201 E Green Lake Dr N) looking a little darker than usual this Saturday night, here’s why: From the Office of the Mayor: Mayor Mike McGinn announced today that all non-essential lighting at the Seattle Municipal Tower, City Hall, the Justice Center, Parks and Recreation Community Centers, Key Arena, the arches at the Pacific Science Center and the Space Needle will be turned off for Earth Hour, and encouraged residents to do the same. Hundreds of pinwheels coming to Green Lake: your help needed

Greenwood CoolMom invites you to Green Lake Park, on the hill between the Green Lake Playground and the street (7201 E Green Lake Dr N), on Sunday, April 18th, 12-3 p.m., to celebrate Earth Week. CoolMom is calling for an end to coal in Washington and a transition to clean energy and green jobs with a symbolic installation of hundreds of pinwheels around Green Lake.
