Zoka Coffee Roaster and Tea Company has just launched a partnership with The Carly Henley Project. 20-year-old Carly Henley, a UW student, committed suicide last October. The Carly Henley Project is dedicated to her memory. New Forza Coffee coming soon to Green Lake
Forza stores work to establish themselves as strong partners in the community, particularly the local firefighting and law enforcement community. Murray Macdonald, who is a firefighter himself, says that new Forza stores traditionally open on their first day at 8:14 a.m., in remembrance of the four Lakewood police officers who were shot and killed at a Parkland Forza at 8:14 a.m. on November 29, 2009. A new cake shop and cafe is coming to Lakeside Plaza (7900 East Green Lake Dr N), across the street from the Green Lake wading pool. Situated between Trattoria Cioppino and Zeeks Pizza, the 1,800+ square-foot property has stood vacant since May 2009, when Souped Up Cafe went out of business. Helen Noh, who has operated a successful baking company since 2007, has leased the space. Cake Envy will operate as both a bakery and a cafe. Caffe Umbria coffee and espresso drinks will be available, as well as teas. Helen hopes to offer locally-produced beer and wine in the future. There…
New cafe coming soon to 84th and Aurora
Jason and Katie Clack, who own Motion Boardshop at 8310 Aurora Ave N, are expanding their business and opening a coffee shop in the same building. The Aurora building formerly held Karin’s Beauty Supplies. In August 2010, Motion Boardshop moved into part of the space, and for the last several months Jason and Katie have been preparing to open a coffee shop as well. Katie says that they haven’t settled on a name for the cafe, but a current front runner is “Board Room Cafe.” Board sports will be incorporated into the cafe’s theme.
