“World’s greatest athlete” works out at Green Lake and Lower Woodland Park

KING 5′s Allen Schauffler reported last night (Monday, Jan. 31, 2011) that Bryan Clay, who earned the title of “world’s greatest athlete” at the 2008 Olympics, is a big fan of Green Lake. Bryan Clay is the reigning Olympic champion for the decathlon. “If you ever jog, walk or ride around Seattle’s Greenlake,” Schauffler writes, “you might have seen him, probably out for a run with his wife, Sarah.” “My in-laws live right up the road here on Phinney Ridge,” Clay told Schauffler, “so we’re down here at Greenlake jogging all the time. On Thursday (August 5, 2010), C.J. Wilson and David Murphy of the Texas Rangers were in Green Lake, eating breakfast at Beth’s Cafe. Join Biggest Loser Ali Vincent at Green Lake basketball courts tomorrow (Wednesday)

Ali Vincent, the Season 5 winner on The Biggest Loser, is coming to Green Lake. Vincent has invited Seattle to join her for an impromptu workout tomorrow (Wednesday, June 23, 2010) at 1 p.m.  She’ll be on the Green Lake basketball courts, located behind the Green Lake Community Center (7201 E Green Lake Dr N). Vincent is on tour with Famous Footwear.  She is the author of Believe It, Be It: How Being the Biggest Loser Won Me Back My Life. 2010 Battle at the Lake

The 7th Annual Battle at the Lake basketball tournament will be held this year on Friday, July 16 (6 – 9 p.m.), Saturday, July 17 (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.), and Sunday, July 18 (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.) at the Green Lake Community Center (7201 E Green Lake Dr N).
