This is a two session class that is designed for kids aged 7-12 to make a holiday family piece to share during the holidays and will include a firing and a glazing. MVP Challenge 5K at Green Lake Park will raise funds for Andrew Moritz
A new event that combines running, walking and basketball is coming to Green Lake Park on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 10 a.m. The MVP Challenge 5K will raise funds for Andrew Moritz, former University of Washington Men’s Basketball player and former Seattle Storm practice squad player. Andrew has a desmoplastic small-round-cell tumor. “It is a very rare form of cancer,” reads the event’s website. “There are only two hospitals in the U.S. that staff specialists to treat this cancer. Registration for fall 2011 classes and programs at Seattle’s community centers and indoor pools is now open. You can browse offerings and register online using SPARC: Seattle Parks and Recreation Connection. 2011 Battle at the Lake basketball tournament
The eighth annual Battle at the Lake at Green Lake Park is scheduled for July 15, 16 and 17, 2011 at the Green Lake Community Center (7201 E Green Lake Dr N). Battle at the Lake is a five-on-five outdoor basketball tournament that traditionally features the finest basketball players in Seattle. The tournament is judged by well-known basketball players. In past years, Shawn Kemp, Jamal Crawford, Nate Robinson, Brian Scalabrine, Isaiah Stanback and Will Conroy have made an appearance.
