This is a two session class that is designed for kids aged 7-12 to make a holiday family piece to share during the holidays and will include a firing and a glazing. Artist Karl Johnson creating hand-cut silhouettes at Mockingbird Books
Silhouette artist Karl Johnson will be creating hand-cut original silhouettes at Mockingbird Books (7220 Woodlawn Ave NE) on Sunday, November 13, 2011, 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. An original silhouette will be $25. Duplicates and frames will be available. Karl is a third generation silhouette artist. According to a flier for the event, his work has appeared in over 30 national publications including “The O List” in O Magazine, People, In Style, Martha Stewart Wedding, Parents, Elegant Bride, Nickelodeon, People, Country Home, Country Living and many others. Crafty Cake Night at the Green Lake Irwin’s next Thursday
Crafters will be meeting up at the Green Lake Irwin’s Neighborhood Bakery and Cafe (301 NE 65th St) next Thursday (October 13, 2011), 5:30-7:30 p.m. “Everyone is invited to join us by the fireplace with travel-friendly and easy clean-up projects,” reads an Irwin’s blog post about Crafty Cake Night. “Bring a friend and a handicraft of your choice and we can have our cake and eat it too!!” Thanks for the tip, Cara!

Registration for fall 2011 classes and programs at Seattle’s community centers and indoor pools is now open. You can browse offerings and register online using SPARC: Seattle Parks and Recreation Connection. Fall classes and programs at the Green Lake Community Center and Evans Pool (7201 E Green Lake Dr N) are listed in Seattle Parks and Recreation’s North East brochure.
