According to Dave Workman, who writes for the Seattle Gun Rights Examiner, a group of open-carry gun activists is planning to visit Green Lake Park on Saturday afternoon around noon, and perhaps on Sunday as well (August 28 and 29, 2011). The visit is reportedly being planned in the wake of a controversial police response to a “person with a gun” dispatch to the park last Sunday. Senator Ed Murray to receive social justice award for improving the lives of LGBT families
This Sunday (Dec. 19, 2010), Washington State Senator Ed Murray will receive the Herman and Margarita Will Peace and Social Justice Award. The award will be presented by First United Methodist Church of Seattle (First Church). Sen. Mayor McGinn to announce his proposed 2011 budget on Monday
The City of Seattle is facing a $67 million general fund deficit for 2011. City parks and recreation facilities, public libraries, and community center programs are all potentially vulnerable to budget cuts. Mayor Mike McGinn will give his 2011 City of Seattle Budget Address at 12 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 27, 2010 at the Rainier Beach Community Center (8825 Rainier Ave S).
