Creative Alliance for Growth, a local BNI Chapter that meets weekly in Green Lake, is looking for new members. The business networking group meets on Wednesdays, 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m., at The Hearthstone (6720 East Green Lake Way N). Members share information and referrals. Only one person from each professional specialty is accepted into each BNI chapter. Once a representative of a profession has joined, his or her competition is locked out from joining as well. Green Lake Elementary School students make dresses for Ugandan orphans
Students at Green Lake Elementary School (2400 N 65th St) recently made dresses for orphaned Ugandan girls. The project was headed up by Kate Sipe, the school’s PE and Swimming Teacher. When Ms. Sipe’s mother passed away, she left a large collection of fabric. The dresses were made from the fabric in her honor. Trina Gadsden, Executive Director of Sister Schools, distributed the dresses to girls at an orphanage in Kampala, Uganda. “When the girls put [the dresses] on, their faces and sparkle in their eyes could light the sky, they were so happy,” Gadsden writes. 2012 Cinco de Mayo block party at the Green Lake Tacos Guaymas
Updated May 2, 2012 The Green Lake Tacos Guaymas (6808 E Green Lake Way N) is once again celebrating Cinco de Mayo with a block party. The event is now in its eleventh year. The party will be on Saturday, May 5, 2012, 11 a.m. – 2 a.m. Note that, due to the event, Metro Route 26 will be rerouted off 2nd Ave NE in the northbound direction from 7 a.m. until midnight. Two domestic rabbits found at Latona and Woodlawn
Earlier today, Green Lake resident Emily Stage found two rabbits wandering in the streets near Latona Ave NE & Woodlawn Ave NE. “They seemed very domestic and were no doubt someone’s pets,” Emily says. “After knocking on some doors and getting no reply, I took them to the Seattle Animal Shelter. The case number is 4776 1-2 for anyone looking for them.” One of the rabbits is gray; the other is white with black spots.
