About My Green Lake
We are two Green Lake residents who felt the need for a neighborhood blog. All the other cool neighborhoods have ‘em so why shouldn’t we? Come here to read about and comment on anything and everything having to do with the Green Lake neighborhood (and sometimes adjacent areas) in Seattle, Washington.
Amy Duncan is My Green Lake’s Co-Editor and Advertising Coordinator. Before she began life as a neighborhood blogger, Amy worked as a librarian at the Seattle Public Library.
Amy hails from Victoria, B.C. and has lived in Green Lake since 2004. She first landed west of the lake on N 78th St, then moved north to N 84th St, before finally settling into east Green Lake on Latona Ave NE, where she lives with her husband Glen and daughter Sloane.
Her favorite neighborhood haunts include Chocolati, Zoka, Cafe Lulu, Revolutions, Peet’s, Starbucks, My Friends Cafe, Bottega Italiana, Ben & Jerry’s, Baskin-Robbins, Tacos Guaymas, Turnpike Pizza, Zeek’s, Amante Pizza, Thai Ocean, Kisaku, the Elysian, Eva, the Latona Pub, PCC, Ageing Fancies, Mockingbird Books, Skinlogic, Lakeside Dental Center, Key Bank, the Hearthstone, Green Lake Preschool, the Green Lake Library, the zoo, the Green Lake playground, the Green Lake Community Center indoor playroom, and, of course, the loop around the lake.
Madeleine Carlson is My Green Lake’s Co-Editor and Site Architect. Her pre-hyperlocal journalism worklife was spent at many and various tech companies.
Madi is originally from Santa Barbara, CA and has lived in Green Lake since 2008. She lives a block from the southeast shore of the lake with her husband, two little boys, and two little dogs. She can often be seen riding her Bianchi Milano (from Gregg’s Greenlake Cycle, natch) around the neighborhood.
Her favorite neighborhood spots include 72nd Street Cafe, BluWater Bistro, Cafe Lulu, Duke’s Chowder House, Evans Pool, the Green Lake Library, Greenlake Bar & Grill, the Grooming Spa, Revolutions Espresso & Bakery, Rosita’s Mexican Grill, Tacos Guaymas, Turnpike Pizza, Urban Bakery, and any sunny patch of grass by the lake.

Erica Browne Grivas is a freelance journalist who first took up gardening to avoid the stress of working at a tabloid television newsmagazine. Now she writes about gardening (and other things) to avoid housework. A native New Yorker, she, her Seattle-grown husband and their two boys transplanted themselves to a south-facing Green Lake corner lot this spring. Erica holds a certificate in Landscape Design from The New York Botanical Garden, which means she can tell her husband where to plant the tomatoes. Her lifestyle writing has been featured in The New York Post, Connecticut Home and Garden, Chicago Parent, and Real Simple magazine.
Most often spotted at: Zeeks, Diva Espresso, The Fiber Gallery, Greenwood Space Supply Travel/Seattle 826, the Green Lake Library, the Oroweat Bakery Outlet, Lotus Salon, Tour Thai, Phinney Farmer’s Market, Bagley Elementary playground, and the Green Lake tennis courts.

Olivia Conner has been quaffing pints, sipping wine, and pouring ales in the Green Lake area since 2005, minus a short stint in Mexico (hey, we all need some sun).
Her favorite spots in the area are: The Latona Pub, Revolutions Espresso, and…well, Green Lake, of course!

Anika Lehde is your average Seattlite, as obsessed with local music and art as she is with finding new and unique vegan treasures for her blog, Seattle Vegan Score. Co-owner of Projectline, an award winning marketing firm with 120 employees and offices in Seattle, Bellevue, and London, Anika oscillates between eating, writing, and helping high tech companies connect with their customers–it is truly a wild life. When not blogging or working, you’ll find Anika volunteering at local non-profit Sidecar for Pig’s Peace (every Sunday), avoiding the gym, updating her Good Reads list of books, or doing research for her all-vegan shoe store business plan.
Vivian Luu is a journalism and political science student at the University of Washington who also freelances for local news outlets, including The Northwest Asian Weekly, The International Examiner, EatDrinkandBe.org and (of course) MyGreenLake.com. She lives in Queen Anne, but enjoys the hustle and bustle the greater Seattle area has to offer and loves experiencing the different lifestyles and interests she encounters through her reporting. She is always up for a conversation. Vivian enjoys cooking newly-learned dishes for her friends and gaming in her leisure (her favorites include zombie annihilation).
