From Gayle Garman of the Friends of Green Lake:
We resume our first Sat. of the month work parties on April 7, from 9:00 to noon at the southwest (blackbird) shoreline habitat restoration site. Most of the native shrubs we planted in March are doing well, but so are the weeds !!! Come help us pull out those pesky weeds! Meet at the site, which is on the west (Aurora Ave) side of the Lake, about 100 ft north of the turtle logs, where you see many small shrubs with flagging tape tied to them. We’ll work on the slope, down to the cat-tails. Dress for the weather (I find layers work best) and plan on getting dirty. Bring work/garden gloves and tools, if you have them. Contact me (Gayle) at FriendsofGL [at] gmail.com, to borrow gloves and/or tools; or with other questions.
Come join our group of happy, muddy, weed-pulling volunteers on Sat, April 7 at 9:00 am.
We’ll be enhancing foraging and nesting habitat for birds and reducing nutrient input to the Lake!
Mark your calendar:
May 5, the first Sat. in May, we’ll weed the southeast shoreline habitat restoration area.
April 24, (4th Tues of the month), FOGL meeting at the Hearthstone; 7:00-9:00 pm.
Notes from the March 27 meeting have been posted on the FOGL website: www.friendsofgreenlake.org
