The Seattle Parks tree crew began pruning median trees on NE Ravenna Blvd today (Friday, March 16, 2012). The pruning, which is being done to achieve 14’ street clearance, will be completed some time next week.

Karen O’Connor, a spokesperson for Seattle Parks and Recreation, says that the SDOT Capital Projects and Roadway Structures Division recently requested the work in advance of the upcoming paving project on the street.

O’Connor shared these details:

To access the trees, the bike lane will be closed one block at a time.

There will be signage in accordance with the 2012 Traffic Control Manual for in-street work. Ample warning-3 advance warning signs- will be provided for bicycles to merge with traffic.

We expect to move fairly quickly down the corridor, so the locations will be shifting through the day.  The project will affect Ravenna Blvd from NE Greenlake Way to Brooklyn Ave NE.  We will work only between 9 am and 3 pm, in accordance with SDOT requirements for avoiding peak traffic hours.
