Green Lake resident warns motorcycle owners about attempted theft last night

What do you think? (5 Comments) February 9, 2012 at 4:58PM

We received the following note from Paul, a north Green Lake resident, earlier today (Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012):

Somebody prowling the alleys last night made off with one of our motorcycle covers and damaged another one. I suspect they were trying to steal the bikes but our locks deterred them, for now. Time to get a bigger lock!

If anyone knows info about similar crimes or finds a discarded moto cover laying around north GreenLake, let us know!

And to any other moto owners, lock ‘em up! Every deterrent helps.

FYI, the prowling happened in an alley near the playfields on the northeast side of the lake.

If you find a motorcycle cover that you suspect might be Paul’s, please drop us a line at tips [at] mygreenlake.com and we’ll get you in touch with him.

Also I live in the N greenlake area (82nd and Meridian) and my bicycle which was on the back side of my house was stolen last night as well. (it was not locked… But if someone sees a white/black diamondback road bike that seems out of place please let me know warren.s.woo@gmail.com)
Hope not many others were stolen from as well in our neighborhood and I guess locks are now mandatory.

Hope you have your serial number from the bottom Warren!  Have you reported the theft yet?

I don’t know if I have the serial number somewhere… I did buy it new so I know that I have some of the paperwork stuff in my room that may have the number. Also do I just call 911 to report the theft or the non-emergency line?

Call the non-emergency line for theft like this. They also have an online submission form as long as it was less than $1500 and wasn’t a break-in or attempted vehicle theft. Just a warning though, that online form is extensive! It took me a good 20 minutes to answer all the questions.

Sorry to hear about your bike. Will keep an eye out. Locks on everything from here on out. We just got new covers and we’re actually going to put locks on the covers now too. So, that’s cover lock, disk brake lock, lock holding our two bikes to the fence post, and then key to the ignition. That’s 4 keys now just to be able to ride!
