This week Mona’s Bistro & Lounge has another great line up of music and they have hired a new chef who will be making some menu adjustments which will add more intrigue to your next visit. Mona’s will be releasing more info on their new chef soon.
Live music happens every Wednesday through Saturday nights from 10PM until closing and to help get you in the mood, they’ll have a special happy hour on music nights from 9pm to 10pm with $2 wells and drafts! There is never a cover charge for music at Mona’s.
This week’s music events kick off on Wednesday with the return of amazing saxophonist Skerik, who played to a packed crowd at Mona’s last Wednesday. Skerik has been playing in Northwest clubs all week and will culminate his Northwest tour with a return visit to Mona’s before flying out to New Orleans or New York City…his homes away from home…
Skerik is a founding member of Critters Buggin, Garage a Trois (which has included Stanton Moore, Charlie Hunter, Mike Dillon and Marco Benevento), and The Dead Kenny G’s. Skerik is an original member of Les Claypool’s Fancy Band and Frog Brigade, Bobby Previte’s Ponga and Coalition of the Willing and in the 1990s he was also a member of Tuatara (with Peter Buck) and Seattle-based Sadhappy.
Skerik has toured with Fred Wesley, Mike Clark and The Headhunters, Wayne Horvitz (Zony Mash), Mad Season and Roger Waters. He has performed with Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Bonnie Raitt, The Meters, Galactic, Dumpstaphunk, Johnny Vidacovich, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Ween, and many, many others. In Seattle Skerik leads Seattle-based “punk-jazz” ensemble Skerik’s Syncopated Taint Septet. He is a founding member of Seattle’s Crack Sabbath. He is also a member of Seattle-based McTuff with Joe Doria and Tarik Abouzied, who will join him at Mona’s.
Thursday brings the Istvan & Farko, Seattle’s electric bass prodigy Farko Rustamovich Dosumov who came to us from Seattle Sister City Tashkent, Uzbekistan teams up with guitarist Istvan Rez from Győr Hungary to bring you a romantic night of Flamenco funk. Joining Farko and Istvan will be Darian Asplund on sax and David Levin doing percussion.
Friday is DJ night at Mona’s and this week will be DJ Night Train spinning House, Disco, Nu-Disco edits, Soul and Funk…and a whole lot more.
Saturday percussionist extraordinaire Arturo Rodriguez will be performing his Latin-based music.
