A man is in critical condition after he was apparently struck by a vehicle this afternoon (Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011) at N 79 St. at Aurora Ave N, KIRO 7 reports: The man, in his 20s, suffered multiple injuries and was taken to Harborview Medical Center after rescuers performed CPR for about a half hour, the [Fire] department said. The volunteer board, which was created by Seattle City Council in 1993, plays an influential role in implementing Seattle’s Pedestrian Master Plan. The board advises the Mayor and City Council, participates in planning and project development, evaluates policies and makes recommendations to all city departments including the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT). Court upholds Green Lake Elementary School teachers’ suspensions
Cynthia Wise of KING 5 News reports that the Washington State Court of Appeals today upheld the suspensions of two Seattle School District teachers who, three years ago, refused to give their students the now-defunct Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) exam. Juli Griffith and Lenora Quarto were special education teachers at Green Lake Elementary (2400 N 65th St) in 2008. Griffith still teaches at Green Lake Elementary. Quarter is no longer employed by Seattle Schools. Family movie set in Green Lake in the early ’70s
Many thanks to Tom Swafford for sharing the following video clip with us, a family movie from the early 1970s shot in the Green Lake neighborhood and at Green Lake Park. Tom, a violinist and composer, used thumb pianos and violin to create a soundtrack for the footage. NE 71st St, the Green Lake Community Center’s roundabout, and East Green Lake Beach can all be seen.
