Children’s author Bonny Becker coming to Mockingbird Books
Children’s author Bonny Becker will be at Mockingbird Books (7220 Woodlawn Ave NE) on Thursday (October 20, 2011). At 11 a.m., Bonny will be reading from her newest book, The Sniffles for Bear. The Sniffles for Bear is the third book in the award-winning Mouse and Bear series. ”This series delights readers young and old with their storylines about friendship, humor, and watercolor illustrations,” Linda Spoor of Mockingbird Books says. At 2:30 p.m., Bonny will talk to young writers about the writing process.
Bagley’s Mr. Millsap wins “Washington State Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year” award
Daniel Bagley Elementary (7821 Stone Ave N) Physical Education Specialist Mr. Chuck Millsap has been selected by the Washington Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance (WAHPERD) as the 2011 Washington State Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year. Mr. Millsap received the award at the State WAHPERD Conference this past weekend (October 14 and 15, 2011). Congrats, Mr. Millsap!

Seattle Public Schools Early Enrollment provides families an opportunity to get their school assignment and avoid the crowds of the busy spring and summer enrollment periods. All students who participate in early enrollment receive an initial assignment to their designated school. Early enrollment events are planned for several Seattle locations, including Green Lake. Man killed after driving off 85th St overpass on Sunday morning
KIRO 7 is reporting that a man was killed early Sunday morning (October 16, 2011) when the car he was driving flew off I-5′s 85th St exit overpass and landed on its top in the highway’s southbound lanes. Police at the scene told KIRO 7 that Eric Rouleau, 40, lost control of his vehicle, smashed through a guardrail and landed upside down on the highway. According to KIRO 7′s report, it isn’t clear whether drugs or alcohol factored in the crash.
