Trash will be picked up earlier next week due to viaduct closure
Seattle Public Utilities announced today that next week’s trash pickups at residences in Northwest Seattle will be early. Residential solid waste customers should put their trash, recycling, and food and yard waste carts by 6 a.m. instead of 7 a.m. on their normal pickup day next week (Monday, October 24 – Friday, October 28). Customers are encouraged to set out their carts the night before. The earlier pickup time is in response to the closure of the Alaskan Way Viaduct. The nine-day closure begins Friday, October 21. Neighbors share ideas about future of Green Lake Community Center
Seattle Parks and Recreation held a community meeting last night (Tuesday, October 18, 2011) at the Green Lake Community Center (7201 E Green Lake Dr N). The event was part of a series of public meetings that the Parks Department is holding across the city with the goal of hearing from communities about what activities and hours they would like to see at their nearest community centers. At last night’s meeting, Parks Department North Recreation Manager Katie Gray explained that these meetings are not a venue for general discussion about the city budget.
