KIRO 7 is reporting that a man was killed early Sunday morning (October 16, 2011) when the car he was driving flew off I-5′s 85th St exit overpass and landed on its top in the highway’s southbound lanes.

Police at the scene told KIRO 7 that Eric Rouleau, 40, lost control of his vehicle, smashed through a guardrail and landed upside down on the highway.

According to KIRO 7′s report, it isn’t clear whether drugs or alcohol factored in the crash.

      Hi Cferl,

Sorry, no more information about this crash is currently available. The only extra detail to add is that 9-1-1 dispatch records indicate that it happened shortly after midnight on Sunday morning.

If any other information becomes available, I will be sure to update the post.

The driver was coming off of the exit way too fast, he probably didn’t see the divider in time.  He barely missed hitting another car, hit the fire hydrant hard enough to knock it 15 feet away, and it looks like he launched over the guardrail.  People pulled over immediately and tried to help, calling to him and trying to open the doors.  The way he fell there was no way he could have survived, even with a seat belt on.

Thanks for the info, Lila. This sounds like it was pretty terrible to witness.
