The Spinal Cord Injury Association of Washington (SCIAW) will be holding the 2011 SCIAW Green Lake Walk & Roll at Green Lake Park on Saturday, October 15, 2011, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
The event will raise awareness and funding for a statewide peer mentor and support program. The program will match the newly injured with a person who has a similar type of spinal cord injury to provide coaching, reassurance and support.
According to a press release from SCIAW, approximately 0.4% of the U.S. population are paralyzed due to a spinal cord injury.
