Fremont Arts Council to bring Luminata lantern parade to Green Lake this Thursday

photo credit: armadilo60 Luminata, a lantern parade to celebrate the Autumnal Equinox, is returning to Green Lake Park this Thursday evening (Sept. 22, 2011). The event, which is in its 11th year, comes our way via the Fremont Arts Council. All are invited to participate, “no matter your age or your zip code.” Attendees should bring a lantern. The parade will start at the Green Lake Small Craft Center, located at the southwest corner of Green Lake, at dusk (around 7 p.m.). Free community art party at Green Lake’s Eben Design

Eben Design is hosting a free community art party on Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, 3-6 p.m. The party will be outside of Eben Design’s office at 7221 5th Ave NE. “At the event we’ll have stations for water coloring, face painting, collages, music and more,” a blog post about the art party reads. “Our team will be there to talk and create with everyone; come by and see us! The party is for kids of all ages and everyone is welcome.”

Seattle Public Theater recruiting teens for the fall production of Anon(ymous)

The Seattle Public Theater (SPT) at the Green Lake Bathhouse (7312 West Green Lake Dr N) invites youth in grades 9-12 to participate in the fall production of Anon(ymous), a modern re-telling of The Odyssey about a young refugee’s search for identity in America. Rehearsals begin Monday, Sept. 26, 2011. No experience is necessary. Youth of color are encouraged to apply. Financial aid available for all in need.
