The Spinal Cord Injury Association of Washington (SCIAW) will be holding the 2011 SCIAW Green Lake Walk & Roll at Green Lake Park on Saturday, October 15, 2011, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. The event will raise awareness and funding for a statewide peer mentor and support program. The program will match the newly injured with a person who has a similar type of spinal cord injury to provide coaching, reassurance and support. Mayor proposes funding for improvements at the Green Lake Bathhouse and the Lower Woodland tennis courts
Mayor Mike McGinn announced today (Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011) that his 2012 Proposed Budget will invest in several City-owned facilities. The mayor said that the budget, which he will submit to Seattle City Council on Monday, will include funding for a replacement roof at the Green Lake Bathhouse, currently home to the Seattle Public Theater (7312 West Green Lake Dr N). The proposed budget also allocates revenue for new lights at the Lower Woodland Park tennis courts. Greenlake Kids Dentistry Halloween Candy Buy-Back program will send candy to service members overseas
Greenlake Kids Dentistry, located in the Circa Green Lake building on the NW corner of NE Ravenna Blvd and Woodlawn Ave NE, is hosting their annual Halloween Candy Buy-Back program on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, 3-6 p.m. Last year, the dentist office collected 150 pounds of candy to benefit Operation Gratitude. Operation Gratitude includes donated candy in care packages that they assemble and send to service members overseas. This year, Greenlake Kids Dentistry hopes to collect 300 pounds of candy. The office will be accepting candy donations for the entire week following Halloween. Seattle-area kids aged 12-and-under will be rewarded $1 per pound of unopened candy…

Street parking in Green Lake’s residential areas
Unlike other Seattle neighborhoods, such as Roosevelt and Wallingford, Green Lake does not have a Restricted Parking Zone (RPZ). According to the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT), RPZs “help neighborhoods deal with [parking congestion] impacts through signed time limits from which vehicles displaying a valid RPZ permit are exempt.” In order to apply for an RPZ permit, a vehicle owner must have an address within the RPZ.
