The Green Lake Branch Library (7364 E Green Lake Dr N) is hosting a “Bikes for Books” reading program for kids in first through third grades. Children are invited to read books for a chance to win a bike. Participants are allowed to enter their names for the drawing once for every ten books they read between Monday, October 3 and Saturday, December 3, 2011. Zoka responds to warning letter from FDA
On Sept. 9, 2011, Zoka Coffee Roaster and Tea Company received a warning letter from the Public Health Service of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The letter related to an April 2011 inspection of Zoka’s coffee roasting facility in north Queen Anne. During the April inspection, FDA investigators documented serious violations of FDA’s “Current Good Manufacturing Practice regulation for foods,” including a failure “to take effective measures to exclude pests from the processing areas and protect against the contamination of food on the premises by pests.” Rodent excreta pellets and insect larva were found in the facility.
