On Friday (August 12, 2011), Seattle Police Department Crime Prevention Coordinator Terrie Johnston shared several updates and tips with North Seattle block captains. Terrie said that there were 1,327 block parties across Seattle in celebration of the 2011 Night Out Against Crime event on Tuesday, August 2. This was a 12% increase in participation compared to last year. Approximately 720 blocks in the North Precinct coverage area participated, Terrie said, which is twice the number of Seattle’s other four precincts combined. Detective Renee Witt of the Seattle Police Department reports that a burglary suspect was arrested last night in east Green Lake. King County Council supermajority agrees to vote for $20 car-tab fee to avert Metro service cuts
King County Executive Dow Constantine announced this morning (Friday, August 12, 2011) that a bipartisan supermajority of seven King County Council members have agreed to support a $20 congestion reduction charge to help fund Metro Transit for two years.
