Crime prevention update from SPD Crime Prevention Coordinator Terrie Johnston

On Friday (August 12, 2011), Seattle Police Department Crime Prevention Coordinator Terrie Johnston shared several updates and tips with North Seattle block captains. Terrie said that there were 1,327 block parties across Seattle in celebration of the 2011 Night Out Against Crime event on Tuesday, August 2. This was a 12% increase in participation compared to last year. Approximately 720 blocks in the North Precinct coverage area participated, Terrie said, which is twice the number of Seattle’s other four precincts combined. Fast Girl Skates plans Critical Mass Skate at Green Lake Park

Police arrest burglary suspect at east Green Lake restaurant

Detective Renee Witt of the Seattle Police Department reports that a burglary suspect was arrested last night in east Green Lake. In an SPD Blotter post, Detective Witt says that at approximately 12:00 a.m. this morning (Saturday, August 13, 2011), police officers responded to the 300 block of NE 72 St to a report of noises behind a restaurant. “Officers located an entry point to the business (broken window) and requested K9 to respond,” Detective Witt writes. “Upon hearing the K9 search announcement, the suspect immediately gave himself up. King County Council supermajority agrees to vote for $20 car-tab fee to avert Metro service cuts

King County Executive Dow Constantine announced this morning (Friday, August 12, 2011) that a bipartisan supermajority of seven King County Council members have agreed to support a $20 congestion reduction charge to help fund Metro Transit for two years. Instituting the $20 car-tab fee, in combination with additional actions, would prevent 600,000 hours of transit service from being cut from Metro. Sketch comedy “The Habit” coming soon to Green Lake’s Bathhouse Theatre

A new sketch comedy show is coming to Green Lake’s Bathhouse Theatre (7312 West Green Lake Dr N).
