Sailboat carrying two young children and their father tips on Green Lake, prompting large emergency response
Updated Monday, August 22, 3:45 p.m. A small sailboat capsized just before 12:30 p.m. this afternoon (Saturday, August 20, 2011) on Green Lake. The sailboat was carrying two young girls and their father, according to Officer C.E. Allers of the Seattle Police Department Harbor Patrol. A bystander says that the boat was not far from shore when its mast broke and it tipped. All of the occupants were wearing life jackets. Cyclist and car crash on Meridian Ave N
Updated Saturday, August 20, 1:25 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. with new information from witnesses who were at the scene of the crash. Shortly after 9 p.m. on Wednesday (August 17, 2011), two fire engines and one ambulance were dispatched to 6014 Meridian Ave N following a collision between a bicycle and car. According to Sonja Hardenbrook, who witnessed the aftermath of the crash, it appeared as though a cyclist flew off his bike and onto the windshield of a car, shattering the window. Gray cat found in east Green Lake — UPDATE: the owner of this cat has been found
Update, Saturday 10:25 p.m. – the owner has been found! Kris, who lives at 5th Ave NE and NE 72nd St, says that she found a cat wandering around her garage earlier today (Friday, August 19, 2011). “It’s not the first time we’ve seen her zipping in and out,” Kris says. “However, she has no collar and is not microchipped.” Kris says that the city’s no-kill shelters are full.
