Paving project on Woodlawn Ave NE causes traffic congestion

The Seattle Department of Transportation says that SDOT paving crews are working on two blocks of Woodlawn Ave NE, between 4th Ave NE and NE Ravenna Blvd. Crews are grinding off the old pavement and then laying new asphalt. They are working from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Traffic flaggers are assisting drivers through the area, but SDOT says that through traffic should seek an alternate route to avoid congestion and delays. Green Lake neighbors invited to “Night Out” Block Party at The Hearthstone

National Night Out Against Crime will be Tuesday, August 2, 2011. Green Lake neighbors traditionally gather at block parties during the yearly event. Local mother reports that son got Swimmers’ Itch in Green Lake on Friday

Earlier this afternoon (Monday, July 25, 2011), we received a note from Marleen Arenivar. Marleen says that her son was swimming at West Green Lake Beach (7312 W Green Lake Dr N) on Friday. ”He came home that day with a rash all over his body,” Marleen reports. “I thought it was Swimmers’ Itch so I sent him to take a shower right away. It turns out it got worse over the weekend. So I called his pediatrician who asked to see him this morning.” The pediatrician prescribed an antibiotic to Marleen’s son after determining that the boy was exposed to bacteria. Marleen…

Several visitors to Green Lake Park this morning (Sunday, July 24, 2011) noted that a film crew was set up on the west side of park. At 8:40 a.m., Sarah Heath, a.k.a. North Seattle Sarah, tweeted “Wanna be in a movie?
