Three free outdoor contra dances are planned this summer. Dance instruction will be provided, and all dancers are welcome. There will be an “open band” format, and musicians are asked to bring their own chairs. A battery-operated sound system will be provided for callers. The dances will take place on three Wednesday evenings, weather permitting. Participants are asked to meet at 6 p.m. for a picnic. According to Seattle Police Department Crime Prevention Coordinator Terrie Johnston, a Level 3 registered sex offender has moved into the north Green Lake area. Jonhston, who says that SPD is making an effort to keep people informed in order to reduce future victimization, asks that residents share this information with their neighbors.
