Free outdoor contra dances planned for Green Lake Park

Three free outdoor contra dances are planned this summer. Dance instruction will be provided, and all dancers are welcome. There will be an “open band” format, and musicians are asked to bring their own chairs. A battery-operated sound system will be provided for callers. The dances will take place on three Wednesday evenings, weather permitting. Participants are asked to meet at 6 p.m. for a picnic. Dancing will begin around 7 p.m. and will continue “until darkness or exhaustion sets in,” according to dance organizer Valerie Cohen. SPD alerts neighbors that a Level 3 registered sex offender has moved into the 1100 block of N 84th

  According to Seattle Police Department Crime Prevention Coordinator Terrie Johnston, a Level 3 registered sex offender has moved into the north Green Lake area. Jonhston, who says that SPD is making an effort to keep people informed in order to reduce future victimization, asks that residents share this information with their neighbors. Gary Neskey, a 39-year-old white male, has moved into the 1100 block of N 84th St. A photograph of Neskey can be viewed here. In 1998, Neskey was charged with rape of a child in the third degree. ‘The Guitar Store’ opens on Aurora Ave and N 83rd St

A new business has opened its doors on Aurora Ave N at N 83rd St. The Guitar Store is a guitar showroom that carries unique instruments handcrafted by local builders as well as national brands. Brown handbag stolen from east Green Lake office: Have you seen it?

A brown satchel-style handbag was stolen from the offices of Eben Design (7221 5th Ave NE) yesterday (Wednesday, June 15, 2011).   Melissa Clark says that she reported the theft to the Seattle Police Department last night.
