Green Lake’s beaches and wading pool: Everything you need to know for summer 2011

Green Lake Beaches Green Lake’s two beaches open this Saturday (June 25, 2011). East Green Lake Beach (7201 E Green Lake Dr N) stays open until Sunday, August 28 and West Green Lake Beach (7312 W Green Lake Dr N) stays open until Monday, Sept. 5. Early Saturday morning fight near Beth’s Cafe leads to police chase through north Green Lake

A large police presence woke up several residents in north Green Lake early Saturday morning (June 18, 2011). According to a resident of the area who asked to remain anonymous, there were at least six police vehicles at Wallingford Ave N & N 80th St around 3 a.m.: The police set up a permitter and were searching with canine units up and down the block, looking in backyards, bushes, under vehicles, etc. I saw them arrest one suspect, and the cops in my backyard told me there were 4 suspects, 3 of which they have found.  Not sure if they ever found…

Nell’s Restaurant launches low-key, family-friendly lunch menu

Nell’s Restaurant (6804 E Green Lake Way N) is now offering a summer lunch menu on weekends. Lunch is served on Fridays, 3 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays & Sundays, 12 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Dinner is still served seven nights a week. Nell’s is known for European-inspired fine dining. Youth sailing summer camp offered at Green Lake Park

A youth sailing camp is being offered this summer at Green Lake Park. The camp will use boats provided by the Green Lake Small Craft Center, and Seattle Parks and Recreation will provide life jackets. The Green Lake Small Craft Center is located at the southwest corner of Green Lake (5900 West Green Lake Way N), right next to the Aqua Theater. Sailors will learn the basics of sailing, rigging, safety, and boat handling. Participants must be at least 10 years old, and weigh at least 80 pounds. Both new and experienced sailors can register.
