Seattle Tilth’s 2011 Chicken Coop and Urban Farm Tour includes stops in Green Lake

Seattle Tilth’s Chicken Coop and Urban Farm Tour returns this year with two stops in the Green Lake neighborhood. The self-guided tour of backyard animals and gardens will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2011, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. There are fifty urban and suburban sites on the tour. A wide variety of animals and agricultural practices are featured, including ducks, mini dairy goats, honey bees, geese, a cow, a horse, and a couple sheep with (hopefully) new born lambs. This weekend in Green Lake

Green Lake’s two beaches open this Saturday (June 25, 2011). The Green Lake wading pool will also open on Saturday if the weather forecast brightens a bit. Currently, Saturday’s high temperature is projected to be 65 degrees; the wading pool only opens when the sun is shining and the weather is forecast to be 70 degrees or above. Irwin’s celebrates National Dairy Month with free glasses of milk, free lattes, and free cookies

Police release sketch and surveillance images of man suspected of Greenwood abduction

Early Tuesday morning (June 21, 2011), a young woman was abducted while walking with a friend in the Greenwood neighborhood. She was later left by her abductors on a north Green Lake street. According to the SPD Blotter, the women were walking in the 9700 block of Dayton Ave N just before 1 a.m. when two Hispanic males in their 20s appeared from a darkened corner of the street. One of the woman was abducted by the two men, who took her from the scene in a vehicle. They were heading southbound. The woman was located at 2:30 a.m. in north…
