The Greenlake Farmers Market opens for the 2011 season

The Greenlake Farmers Market, located on the west side of Green Lake at 6501 Aurora Ave N, is now open for the season. It will be open seven days a week until the last pumpkins are sold in the fall. Hours are 10 a.m. through 7 p.m., subject to the weather.

Organic “Early Robin” cherries from Yakima are currently available and will be for sale all week. A different cherry variety will be available every week following: Index, Benton, Bings, Rainier, Atticas, Lapins, Regina and Sweethart.

Sweet corn will soon be available as well. Peaches arrive around July 25, beginning with Flavorcrest peaches, followed by Regina, Red Star, Coral star, Red Globe, Suncrest, Elegant lady, Cresthaven, Elberta, Angelus, O’henry, Snow Giant (white flesh) and Pretty Lady.

A variety of nectarines, pears and apples will also be for sale.
