Bike to School Day at Daniel Bagley Elementary

By Erica Browne Grivas Neither whining, nor caffeine deprivation, nor frenzy-filled search for equipment shall stop us from biking to school 20 minutes early and getting our ‘I Heart Bikes’ stickers. That, plus some satisfaction of going green, was what kept many families of Daniel Bagley Elementary (7821 Stone Ave N) rolling this morning as they celebrated National Bike to School Day today (Friday, May 20, 2011). New summer program for Middle Schoolers coming this summer to Woodland Park

  A new summer day program for 11-14-year-olds is coming to several locations, including Woodland Park, this summer. The program will be at Woodland Park July 25 – 29, 2011. The program, called “Lead Up,” is geared towards team-building, outdoor fun, community service, local career and college exploration. It will include field trips all over King County. Police activity in east Green Lake

There was a large police response to east Green Lake tonight (Thursday, May 19, 2011). At about 9:15 p.m., approximately 20 Seattle Police cars arrived at the Circa Green Lake building (6900 E Green Lake Way N), according to several witnesses. Donna Hudson, co-owner of zoeyogurt, says that a police officer entered the yogurt shop and told customers and staff to get behind the wall separating the restrooms from the general seating area. New principal at Daniel Bagley Elementary School

By Erica Browne Grivas The wait is over for knuckle-biting parents at Daniel Bagley Elementary (7821 Stone Ave N). Erika Ayer, now Assistant Principal of Pathfinder K-8 in West Seattle, will be Bagley Elementary’s principal for the 2011-2012 school year. Bagley’s fourth principal in five years, Ayer replaces Anitra Pinchback-Jones, who began last  September.  (You can read more about Bagley’s background here.)  Bagley parents learned the news today (May 19, 2011) in a May 18 letter signed by Susan Enfield,  Seattle Public Schools Interim Superintendent, and forwarded via e-mail. “We’re going to miss her. Bike to Work Day comes to Green Lake tomorrow

photo credit: shannonkringen The Cascade Bicycle Club is hosting F5 Bike to Work Day tomorrow (Friday, May 20, 2011). 41 commute stations throughout the Puget Sound region will be open 6 – 9 a.m. Cyclists who stop at the commute stations will receive free water bottles, maps, snacks and commuting information, and can have bikes checked by bike shop sponsors. A Green Lake station sponsored by Bicycle Paper and Gregg’s Greenlake Cycle will be located at NE Ravenna Blvd & Woodlawn Ave NE. A full schedule of events can be found here.
