Parks Department seeks your input on the future of Seattle’s community centers

Seattle Parks and Recreation is exploring new directions for the city’s community centers, and your input on a variety of options is requested. “In response to challenging budgets,” a press release from Seattle Parks reads, “Seattle Parks and Recreation has been asked by City Council to re-think how community centers are operated. Over the past five months, ideas for changing how community centers are run have been developed with the help of a citizen advisory team. The “locksmith scammer” is still making his rounds in the Green Lake neighborhood

The “locksmith scammer,” whom we have reported on twice before (in September and December 2010), continues to knock on Green Lake doors. The man known as the “locksmith scammer” is described as being between 5’6″ and 6′ tall, of slight build, African American, and balding. The man typically claims to be a janitor working at a nearby school and he sometimes says that his partner works at Microsoft. He’s new to the neighborhood, he says, and is locked out of his house. Movie shoot moves from Green Lake to Maple Leaf

Scenes from an indie film called “Safety Not Guaranteed” were shot in Green Lake last week, and today the cast and crew are in Maple Leaf. Green Lake resident Joshua Tufts reports seeing film production vehicles last Monday (May 16, 2011) on Bagley Ave N just north of East Green Lake Dr N. The Seattle Public Theater at the Green Lake Bathhouse presents a free production of ‘Little Women’

  The Seattle Public Theater (SPT) at the Green Lake Bathhouse (7312 West Green Lake Dr N) invites you to a Youth Program performance of an adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women, directed by Carmel Baird. Green Lake Community Center preschool program adds afternoon class

The Green Lake Community Center‘s “Preschool Frogs” program (7201 E Green Lake Dr N) is expanding this fall. The morning class is shifting from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m to a new time: 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m, Monday through Friday. The cost is $325 per month. In addition to the morning class, a new afternoon class will be offered. The afternoon class will meet 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The cost is $275 per month.
