Sunday Photo: The Green Lake Motel

On Sundays, we feature a great shot of our park or neighborhood from the MyGreenLake Flickr Pool. This week’s photo, by Grundlepuck, is historical in nature. Shot in May 10, 2008, it features the roadside sign from the now-closed Green Lake Motel, which once operated out of 8900 Aurora Ave N. The Green Lake Motel was one of many roadside inns built when state Route 99 (a.k.a. Green Lake real estate by the numbers: Inventory is low and multiple offers are back

This update on the Green Lake real estate market comes to us via Daniela Dombrowski & Kris Murphy of The Murphy & Dombrowski Real Estate Group. In zip codes 98103, 98105 and 98115 inventory for single family homes has dropped to some of the lowest levels we have seen over the last four years. There are fewer homes on the market than last spring when the tax credit was in effect but they are selling at the same rate. Buyer demand is starting to outpace available homes on the market. Boat rentals available at the Greenlake Boathouse this weekend

The Greenlake Boathouse, which rents boats and stand-up paddle (SUP) boards for use on Green Lake, is opening for the season tomorrow (Saturday, April 23, 2011). The boathouse will be open this Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., and daily after that, weather permitting. Starting Memorial Day weekend, the boathouse will be open seven days a week through the end of August. In September, it is open on weekends only, and it is closed October through March. Green Lake’s Seattle Public Theater offers tickets to Intiman Theater subscribers

Last Saturday (April 16, 2011), the Intiman Theatre announced that, due to financial and operational instability, it would close for the rest of the season. (You can read more about the cancellation of the season on The SunBreak.)
