A resident of northeast Green Lake reports that there was significant police activity near his home earlier tonight (Tuesday, April 19, 2011).
At around 10:50 p.m, according to the resident, five police cars arrived at a house that is under construction on the corner of NE 75th St & 4th Ave NE.
“The cops walked away with a sleeping bag and a back pack,” the resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, tells us. “I heard the suspect say something about just sleeping in there. However, the police were still pretty vehement about storming the house afterwards, and I heard police dogs released into the house at some point.”
The resident says that the police activity lasted until around 11:30 p.m., at which point a police officer told him that “there was a break in and that the suspect was off to jail.”
“It was a bit unnerving,” he says.
A police report about this incident should be available within the next week or so. We will update this story if any new information becomes available at that time.
Update, Thursday April 21 – A Seattle Police Department report confirms that the North Precinct responded to a forced-entry burglary at a home in the 7400 block of 4th Ave NE on April 19, 2011.
