Green Lake is open for fishing all year, but official trout-fishing season began today (Saturday, April 30, 2011). The Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife (WDFW) released thousands of rainbow trout in Green Lake earlier this spring. (You can see pictures of the trout being released into Green Lake here.) A fishing license is required for everybody aged 15 and older who wishes to fish in Washington State’s lakes. Youth under age 15 do not need a license. Husky mix lost in northwest Green Lake
Update, May 19, 2011 – Pepper has been found! Another dog lost Green Lake dog has being reported. Pepper was lost this morning (Saturday, April 30, 2011) at approximately 8 a.m. from N 82nd St at Linden Ave N in northwest Green Lake. “She sweet and shy,” Scott says. “We were loading her up to go running in the forest and she ran off.” Pepper is a Husky mix. PCC food drives will help fill school lunch gap during summer months
Starting tomorrow (Saturday, May 1, 2011) and throughout the month of May, PCC Natural Markets are hosting food drives to benefit kids in need. Specially-marked donation bins will be set up inside all nine Puget Sound PCC stores, including the Greenlake PCC (7504 Aurora Ave N). According to a news release from PCC, these special food drives will help nourish kids who don’t have access to school-supplied meals during the summer months and whose families are served by food banks that partner with PCC in its year-round food bank program. Daniel Bagley Elementary seeks fourth principal in five years
By Erica Browne Grivas Seattle Public Schools (SPS) recently announced the reassignment of Daniel Bagley Elementary Principal Anitra Pinchback-Jones to head the new Rainier Elementary – which means the school, located at 7821 Stone Ave N, is looking for its fourth principal in five years. “These appointments leave three current openings at Daniel Bagley, John Stanford International and Rainier Beach High School that will be filled through an interview process,” according to a March 23, 2011 press release from Superintendent Susan Enfield.
